Building a Domestic Natural Rubber Supply Chain
Title: Rooted in Resilience — Commercializing Guayule for Sustainable Rubber

Challenge - Bridgestone sought to develop a sustainable, domestic alternative to imported hevea rubber by commercializing guayule—a heat-tolerant, drought-resistant plant that produces natural rubber. The project required a rigorous feasibility analysis to validate commercialization potential, assess market viability, and guide investment strategy while addressing global supply chain risks, technical challenges, and sustainability targets.

Our Role - QuantaVision served as an independent advisor to conduct a comprehensive feasibility study and gap analysis for Bridgestone’s guayule-to-rubber initiative. Our team evaluated economic, technical, market, and financial viability, including sensitivity testing, site analysis, and co-product revenue streams. We identified key development milestones, investment requirements, and strategies for mitigating risks related to water availability, crop transition, and market timing.

Result – The Bridgestone Management Team gained a clear roadmap for scaling guayule into a commercially viable domestic rubber source. The study supported internal decision-making, stakeholder engagement, and reinforced the project’s alignment with regenerative agriculture, supply chain resilience, and climate adaptation goals.
